Scientific Methods in Gender Selection

from: Lily Woods

Latest science and technology has made it possible for parents to pick the gender of their unborn baby. While some may have science evidence, other are purely old wives tale and based on natural procedures.

Scientific proven methods are sperm selection, artificial insemination and in-vitro fertilization. These procedures do not guarantee a 100% result and cost thousands of dollars.

Sperm selection procedure such as microsort and ericsson involve the separation of boy producing sperm and a girl producing sperm. After the selection, the sperms will be inserted into the mother’s uterus. There is few methods for the insertion.

The first method is by in-vitro. The mother is prescribed fertility drugs to produce more than one ovum. These ovums are then taken out and are allowed to fertilize with the selected sperms in a petri dish. About five days later, doctor will insert the fertilized ovum back into the uterus.

The second method is by artificial insemination, also known as intrauterine insemination. The main difference between in-vitro fertilization is the selected sperms are directly inserted into the uterus.

Other medical procedure of choosing the gender of the baby is pre-implantation. This procedure is highly effective but may go against some religion issue. This procedure is a follow up of an in-vitro but further test is done on the embryo to determine the gender before insertion.

If you do not feel right undergoing the above mentioned procedures, you might want to try some natural, safe and highly effective methods. To read more on methods for gender selection and why it is important to choose the gender of your next baby, go to Pick The Gender Of Your Baby now
